Southern Bluefin Tuna (SBT) – Thunnus Maccoyii is a member of the Thunni family, which include Atlantic Bluefin, Pacific Bluefin, Yellowfin and Bigeye Tuna. SBT are large, fast swimming pelagic fish found throughout the Southern Hemisphere in waters 30-50 degrees south of the equator.

Their breeding ground is located South East of Java in the Indian Ocean. Juvenile tuna migrate down the coast of Western Australia around Cape Leeuwin, and school in the pristine waters of the Great Australian Bight.
